Personal Recommendations
Each of the spiritual and new age books listed
below (in no particular order) cover one or several aspects of spiritual
growth. They have all in some way aided my own path to enlightenment
and each, in its own way, has assisted me in blending a little more
with my spiritual essence. They are therfore my personal recommendations,
and I hope that you find them to be equally inspirational.

CROSSING
OVER: THE STORIES BEHIND THE STORIES
By John Edward
John Edward, internationally acclaimed psychic medium and host of
the television show Crossing Over with John Edward, has written
a heart-warming account of life as a man who talks to dead people.
Appropriately named The Stories Behind the Stories, John provides
some fascinating insights into readings he's done both on and off
the show, background on the challenges he's had to face along the
way, and his perspective on the controversy surrounding his work.
John's honesty and sincerity is gripping and his passion for his
work, coupled by his warmth and wit make for an inspiring and entertaining
read. A compelling, beautifully written book.
JOURNEY
OF SOULS: CASE STUDIES OF LIFE BETWEEN LIVES
By Dr Michael Newton
An easy-to-read, life-changing book that
brings one considerably closer to understanding the soul, the role
of spirit guides, the purpose of soul mates and the nature of spirit
in general. It is essentially a compilation of case studies of hypnotherapy
patients' lives between lives, and is one of those rare books on
the subject that is likely to appeal to skeptics and the metaphysically
inclined alike. Its style naturally lends itself to challenging
one's beliefs and helping one to better understand the purpose of
life's hardships. This book leaves one asking many questions about
one's own life, many of which are answered in Destiny of Souls (below).

By Dr Michael Newton
A further source of inspiration by Dr Newton
is Destiny of Souls, which was published largely in reponse to the
enquiries generated by Journey of Souls (see review above). It is
an equally enticing book that serves as a valuable supplement to
Journey of Souls.
AGELESS BODY, TIMELESS MIND:
THE QUANTUM ALTERNATIVE TO GROWING OLD
By Dr Deepak Chopra
Few are able to bring quantum physics home to an understandable
level for the layman quite like Deepak Chopra. This is a highly
inspiring and practical book which demonstrates with ease the power
of awareness and how it affects our lives, bodies and health. This
book gently challenges one to re-evaluate, expand and elevate one's
current level of awareness to one that is conducive to eternal youth,
better health and total well-being. A wonderful book written by
an exceptionally accomplished and wise man.
UNCONDITIONAL LIFE:
DISCOVERING THE POWER TO FULFILL YOUR DREAMS
By Deepak Chopra
Another inspiring book by Deepak Chopra that encourages the reader
to transcend self-created personal limitations through finding both
cause and relief within. The book combines the disciplines of modern
physics, neuroscience and ancient wisdom to demonstrate the power
of consciousness. As always, Deepak Chopra's high level of attunement,
as well as his caring and compassionate nature shine through every
page. The book gently guides the reader to a path of total freedom
and manifested dreams through remoulding the world from the inside
out.
HANDS OF LIGHT
A GUIDE TO HEALING THROUGH THE HUMAN ENERGY FIELD
By Barbara Ann Brennan
For anybody interested in understanding auras and energy, this book
is a "bible". Barbara Ann Brennan is a leading authority
on auras and the book allows one to tap into her extensive experience
as a psychotherapist, scientist and healer. Included are very practical
exercises to develop one's auric sight and healing capabilities,
and the book appeals to both the beginner and advanced alike. A
fascinating and beautifully illustrated book.
SEEDS
FOR THE SOUL
by Chuck Hillig
Seeds for the Soul is a deceptively simple little gem. Chuck Hillig
is clearly an experienced therapist who has authored several books
on enlightenment, and Seeds for the Soul is essentially a compilation
of several decades' worth of his observations and thoughts on things
universal. Appropriately entitled, each self-contained page serves
to spur one towards expansion of one's own truth. Its non-prescriptive
style is appealing and cleverly blends psychology with eastern philosophy
in a light and humorous manner that will appeal to everybody. It's
a slow read with life-altering consequences and is the type of book
that could be read repeatedly, each time producing profound new
insights. Available in English and Dutch.
Louise Hay is a woman who walks her talk. Amongst other extraordinary
accomplishments in her life, she has healed herself of cancer through
changing her thoughts and beliefs. You Can Heal Your Life explores
the power of creative thought and includes simple and effective
exercises and affirmations for healing your life. It also explores
the effect of negative thought patterns on one's health. The back
of the book contains an extensive alphabetical list of ailments
and diseases and their probable causes. It's a handy reference book
that is likely to live on the forefront on your bookshelf for years
to come.

HIDDEN POWER OF DREAMS:
HOW TO USE DREAMS ON YOUR SPIRITUAL JOURNEY
by Denise Linn
A delightful book that covers all aspects of dreaming including
dream recall, dream aids, understanding sexual dreams, dream incubation,
lucid dreaming and a dream symbology dictionary. Denise's manner
is gentle and loving and this book would appeal both to more advanced
dreamers as well as those who have just begun to explore their dreams.
FIREWORKS
by Jill Wellington and Edna Mae Holm
Mother-daughter authors Jill Wellington and Edna Mae Holm have
teamed up to create a brilliant and inspiring crime novel that cleverly
blends mystery with spirituality. It is the first of a five book
series, each teaching a different spiritual concept. Fireworks demonstrates
beautifully the often-misunderstood role of the spirit guides in
everyday life. An easy and enlightening read.
